ORVILLE EDGAR ACRES Mr. Orville Acres, aged 70 years, of Pinawa, MB. dearly beloved husband of Isabel, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2002, near Fannystelle, MB. Orville will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Isabel; his sons, Jeff, Derek (Denise) his daughter Heather (Alan Vowles) his grandchildren, Amy, Kayla, Cody and Justin; his great-grandchildren, Christian, Micah and Serenity; his brother Allan (Nan) also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Gordon, mother Mary and stepmother Alma. Born September 15, 1932, in Kars, ON, Orville spent his early years growing up on the farm after which he attended Kemptville Agriculture College. Shortly after graduation, Orville married Isabel Coleman and spent seven years working in Ottawa at the Department of Agriculture Experimental Farm. In 1963, Orville and his family moved to Pinawa where he spent the next 35 years with Atomic Energy of Canada. Orville will be fondly remembered for his dedicated volunteer service. He was a member of the Pinawa Christian Fellowship and contributed almost 40 years to the Pinawa Volunteer Fire Department where he served in many capacities, including his final years as Fire Chief. His dedication to amateur sports included many years umpiring softball but his true passion was hockey where he served at the local, provincial and national levels in many capacities. Fairness in sport was his guiding principal. In 2001 he received the Manitoba Lieutenant Governors Make a Difference Community Award.
