Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNICE VALERIA BUSS (nee CABLE) January 8, 1925 - November 18, 2002 After a heroic battle with cancer, God has taken Bernice home to be at peace. Bernice passed on peacefully to a greater glory on Monday, November 18, 2002. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Grace Cable and brother Thomas. Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband of 42 years, Norman. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughters, Bonnie (Gord) Odaisky, Sharon (Hugh) Stockes, Marilyn (Lawrence) Toet and son Larry (Rosita Glufka) her grandchildren, Brett, Nicola, Charleen, Stefanie, Chase, Travis, Brittny, Megan and Shayna; as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law; cousins, nieces and nephews. She was born and raised in Transcona and was always proud of the fact that she was a descendant of the Lord Selkirk settlers through her grandfather John W. Gunn. Upon completion of her studies at Angus Business College, Bernice was employed for 17 years with Great-West Life. During this time she was always active in Transcona Memorial United Church. She also enjoyed doing some amateur stage work in several different venues. Upon her marriage to Norman in 1960, she moved to Whitemouth where they took over the Buss family service station. Bernice also worked part-time at the Whitemouth School and for her brother-in-law Tom Melnick. Her main interest outside her home was the life of Ross United Church where she worked diligently and gave of her talents. She served as Clerk of Session from 1981 until the present. As well, she worked in the church in almost any capacity that was required, for she truly loved and served the Lord throughout her life. Bernice especially loving singing in the church choir. She was proud of her children and her wonderful grandchildren; she considered herself to be truly blessed by the Lord in having a warm and loving family. Bernice touched the hearts of all those around her and will be missed by her many friends who were so important to her throughout her life. A celebration of her life will be held at Ross United Church, Whitemouth, MB on Friday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Anne Cooke officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitemouth Municipal Cemetery. Thanks to all the nurses and staff on 5B at St. Boniface Hospital for their kind and considerate care.
