ROBERTA MARY JEAN GOULD Peacefully with her family by her side, we sadly announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Jean Gould on Monday, November 18, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 75 years. Jean was born on November 23, 1926 in Miami, MB at the Cottage Hospital to the proud parents of John A. and Verna Johnston. Her first job was at the Carman Egg Grading Station where she met her husband Walter Gould. They wed on October 14, 1950 and farmed in the Forrest District for 17 years before moving to Carman in 1967. She enjoyed activities including 4-H, church, crafts, square dancing, and lawn and carpet bowling. In 1991 Jean moved to Winnipeg where she continued to enjoy these activities and met many wonderful friends. Amongst her many friends at Lion Place, Jean will be sadly missed by two special friends Inga and Reta. She was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1981, father John A. Johnston in 1980, mother Verna Johnston in 1985 and sister-in-law Ruth Johnston in 1986. Left to mourn with great sadness are her children, Bob (Barb) Gould, Carol (Don) Brechin, Larry Gould and Brenda (Leo) Colliou; grandchildren, Denise and Pam Brechin, Michael and Kaeley Gould; brothers, Dave (Joan) Johnston, Bill (Margie) Johnston; sisters, Ida (Bob) McIntosh, and Shirley (Delbert) Snider. She is also survived by sister-in-laws, Trudy Svoboda and Lillian (Harold) Russell; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be held at the Carman United Church in Carman on Friday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeans memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. Special thanks to Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface Hospital and staff. Doyles Funeral Chapel of Carman in care of arrangements.
