HARRY KEARNEY (BUD) HOLOHAN Peacefully, on Monday, November 18, 2002 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Bud Holohan passed away at the age of 71. Bud was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Charlotte Holohan and his sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Ben Berntt. He is survived by his nephew Terry Berntt, his wife Penny and their children Bronwyn, Megan and Brendan. Bud grew up in the West End of Winnipeg during his youth and then spent his latter years in Fort Rouge. As a young man he worked as a Porter for the Railway. He then went on to open and operate his own Insurance Business for many years. He later became involved in the Transportation Business and Fort Rouge Plate and Auto Glass. At the time of his death, Bud was employed part time with the City of Winnipeg Board of Revisions. Buds greatest passion in life was his involvement in the sport of hockey. He was Manager of the Winnipeg Maroons Hockey Club in the early 1960s. This led to the formation of the Canadian National Hockey Program, which Bud was a manager in the late 1960s. It was during this time that he became involved with the Canadian Olympic Team in 1967 to 1968 as the Educational Advisor. Alongside his good friend and mentor Father David Bauer, Bud encouraged the hockey players to develop their mental and moral skills as well as their physical attributes. In 1999 Bud was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame as a member of the 1964 Winnipeg Maroons Allan Cup Champions of Canada. The family would like to thank Buds friends for their support during his brief illness. Also thank you to the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for their care. A special thanks goes to the Gerrie family for their many years of friendship. To Bud, you were family! At Buds request there will not be a formal funeral service. Cremation has already taken place. There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life at the Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance on Monday, November 25 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer society or the charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
