JEAN MARGARET ROBERTSON Peacefully, at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Jean passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2002. She was born in Winnipeg on November 3, 1901 to John Beattie and Christina (McLeod) Robertson, who predeceased her, as did sisters, Isabella, Mary, Edith, Grace, Ida and Alice; and brothers, Jack and Glen. Jean had recently celebrated her 101st birthday with her family. Jean started her teaching career in Woodlands, MB, near Stonewall and then taught until her retirement at the Norquay and Riverview Schools in Winnipeg. She was very popular with her students and was a special aunt to nephews, nieces and later, their children. Jean was active in badminton and curling, and loved to be at her family cottage at Winnitoba in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. She tended her flower gardens with love, and recorded her experiences in poetry and prose. She enjoyed art and singing at the piano. Jean attended Augustine United Church most of her life. Since moving to the Middlechurch Home, she had been an active participant in their sing-songs and had spoken mostly in rhyme to staff and friends for the past several years. Family was always important to her, and she is survived by her sister Marjorie Robertson; and sister-in-law Margaret Robertson; as well as nieces, Peggy Sanders and Susan Irving; and nephews, Fletcher and Michael Baragar and John Robertson; as well as a special collection of their children and grandchildren. During the past few years, she had enjoyed the additional devoted loving care from Gwen and Bill Stephens at home and since admission to Middlechurch. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of her life has been held. The family is very appreciative of the excellent support from the staff at Middlechurch Home, and friends may make a donation to the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, 260 Balderstone Rd., West St. Paul, MB R4A 4A6 or a charity of their choice.
