MARY POTTER (nee SAUNDERS) (OSWALD) It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at St. Boniface Hospital, with her family by her side. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Janet (Ian) Anderson and grandsons, Douglas, David and Scott; her niece Elaine Friesen; and her stepsons, Keith (Marilyn) Potter and sons, Antoine and Jean; Ian (Janice) Potter and daughters, Anna, Adrienne and Mary-Elizabeth; Colin Potter and children, Amy and Ryan; and Don (Bev) Potter and children, Cassandra (Sean) Bird and Michael (Kimberlee) and by her many friends. Mary was born in Saltcoats, SK on May 10, 1911; spent several years in Britain and then moved to Winnipeg in 1921 which is when she met her dear friend Norman Potter at Linwood School. Mary worked in the credit department at The Bay and was a longtime member of St. Andrews Anglican Church where she was active in the Altar Guild, ACW, and teaching Sunday School. Mary will be remembered as a very positive person who was a great friend and a good listener. She never failed to be encouraging and she always saw the positive in people and situations. Her upbeat personality and unending kindness were always inspiring. Mary loved animals especially her Devon Rex cat, Pixie, travelling and meeting people. She was a very active person and loved life. The family wish to express their thanks to the staff of wards 5E and 5A at St. Boniface Hospital and to Roland Lanoie for the compassionate care given to Mary. We invite all who knew Mary to join us in a celebration of her life. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., on Friday, November 22, with The Rev. Ian Mills officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1 or to The Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3, or to a charity of your choice.
