EDWARD (TED) ALBERT GOSHAWK It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Edward (Ted) Albert Goshawk at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 80 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marjorie (Marge) of 53 years of marriage; and children, Linda and husband Clarence Kikstra, David and partner Angelika Thiessen, Barbara and husband Richard Wiebe, Ronald and wife Lynn, Joanne and husband Kenneth Wells; grandchildren, Bill, Patrick, Joanne, Clayton, James and Melanie; and numerous relatives and friends. Ted was born on April 30, 1922 in Winnipeg, MB. He grew up on Furby Street and enjoyed scouting, swimming and spending summers in Lockport. He served his country as a petty officer in the Navy for five years. He met the love of his life shortly thereafter. Following his military service he enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba. His career started with a brief period with Winnipeg Electric stationed at Seven Sisters Falls. His employment opportunities took him all over the province and northwestern Ontario as a civil servant with the federal government. Retiring in 1980 at the age of 58, he enjoyed gardening, travelling, curling, playing bridge and cribbage, volunteer work with the church and senior groups. The highlights of his life were the special times spent with family and friends. He brought to these occasions the gifts of gentleness and robust laughter. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 3:00 p.m. in St. Marys Anglican Church, 3830 Roblin Blvd. with Archdeacon Gordon Dixon officiating. Our special thanks to Archdeacon Gordon Dixon, the physicians and staff of Emergency and ICU departments at the Grace General Hospital for all of their caring, support and compassion during this difficult period. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Teds memory may be made to the Grace General Hospital, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7; St. Marys Anglican Church, 3830 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3R 0E4; or a charity of ones choice.
