LILIAN MAY MARRIOTT Peacefully, on November 17, 2002 at the age of 96, Lilian Marriott (nee Whitbread) passed away at her residence at Golden West Centennial Lodge. Lilian was predeceased in 1971 by her loving husband, Thomas Andrew Marriott, and in 1999 by grandson David Arnold Palmer. She is survived by her daughter Isabel (Reginald) Palmer of Lac du Bonnet, MB; son Harvey (Irene) Marriott of Clandeboye, MB; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Tottenham, London, England June 10, 1906, she emigrated with her family to Shoal Lake, MB in 1909. She and Thomas were married November 21, 1927 and farmed at Shergrove and Portia, MB until they moved to Brandon, MB in 1937 where they operated a grocery store. In 1942 they moved to St. James, MB where they spent the remainder of their working lives. In 1970 they moved to Penticton, BC and after Thomas death in 1971, Lilian returned to St. James to be near her family. Lilian was employed at Eatons in the lingerie department for approximately 15 years. She was an active member of the Pioneer Fraternal Club. She and Tom enjoyed many weekends and holidays with family and friends at their cottage at West Hawk Lake. Lilian was a wonderful cook, and was skilled in her hobbies of knitting and needle point. Lilian will be fondly remembered by her family as a devoted and loving mother and grandma, and by all others who knew her as a cheerful and caring friend. Lilians family wishes to especially thank the warm and caring staff at Golden West. Truly they have been a wonderful blessing as care givers for which we are sincerely grateful. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Rd., Winnipeg on November 23 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2Y 0S8, or a charity of their choice.
