KENNETH G. (KEN) PULS July 13, 1929 - November 18, 2002 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ken at the age of 73. Ken passed away at Grace General Hospital with his family by his side. Ken is survived by his wife of 52 years Patricia; his son Dan; daughter Wendi (Dennis) Foreman; daughter Lori (Rob) Robinson; daughter Debi; son Chris; four grandchildren, Jamie (Candice) Foreman, Coree Foreman (Ronnie), Lisa and Darrin Robinson; and one great-grandchild Alyssa. Ken also leaves to mourn his passing his brother-in-law Barry (Verna) Winslade; nieces, Val (Heinz) Warkentin, Brenda; nephew Bob (Amber) and their family as well as honorary family Val Black, Ray Magnusson, Susie Shrimpton, Bonnie and Alphonsus Utioh and their children Jeffrey and Nathan; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Ken came from very humble beginnings in Winnipegs West End. His tough childhood only made him more determined to succeed in life. He did. After achieving a grade 9 education (Ken took great pride in later achieving his GED) Ken joined the workforce accepting and performing several different jobs throughout his teen years. In 1950, Ken married his only true love, Pat, and they began their family shortly thereafter. In 1955 Ken joined B.A. Oil and began a 34 year career in the oil business. Ken started as a driver and progressed to Account Executive - Mining. Kens determination and enormous people skills were the major factors in his success. Because of his desire to provide all the best to his family, Kens time with the oil company took him and the crew to several locations throughout the West. But in the end he came home to Winnipeg. Ken retired in 1989 and spent the final 13 years of his life tending to his garden and lawn, building projects with anyone who was interested, cheering on his beloved Blue Bombers and golfing with his buddies and family. Kens personal treasures were his family and friends. His proudest moments were the marriages of two of his daughters and graduations from nursing and university by other children. Ken also loved spending time with his children at Grand Beach, Grand Forks and stops in Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatoon. Cherished forever by Kens family are the songs sung during long car trips for summer vacations, Ken handing out Xmas presents every year even though he possessed less than perfect eyesight, building projects, a unique talent for handing out nicknames, special moments with grandchildren and his incessant drumming. Ken will be remembered by all who knew him for his quick wit, good humour and generous hospitality. Thanks to the staff at Grace General Hospital for their kindness and tenderness in caring for Ken. Dad, thanks for a lifetime full of memories. We will always miss you dearly. Should friends so desire, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 22 at 11:30 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
