EMIL SAHULKA Peacefully, with family at his side, on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Marlene; son Lawrence (Tana) and grandchildren, Sara, Quinn, Eve and Raymond; daughter Nadine (Vince) and grandchildren, Mason and Monica; son Clinton (Jeanine) and grandson Colin; son Jeff and daughter Genevieve; brother Peter (Minnie) and sister Sophie (Peter) Mulla. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Emil was born on April 25, 1938, on the family farm in South Bay, MB. After finishing high school in Winnipegosis, he completed training in diesel mechanics in Toronto in 1967. Initially, he worked at Kelsey Hydro Station and later at Mack Trucks in Winnipeg. Emil completed his teacher training program at Red River Community College in 1970. He was employed as a power mechanics instructor at the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive High School from September 1971 until his retirement on June 30, 1994. He had a keen sense of humour and his teaching was amongst the finest. His students greatly respected and paid him many personal visits after they graduated. Emil and Marlene started building their home in St. Andrews in 1973 and have remained there until his passing. Emils hobbies included berry picking, gardening, hunting, fishing and travelling. To celebrate their 40th anniversary, Emil and Marlene enjoyed a fabulous European tour of Italy, Austria, Leichenstein, France and England in October of 2001. Prayers will be held on Friday, November 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church in Winnipegosis. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Ascension Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lawrence Sahulka, Clinton Sahulka, Jeff Sahulka, Bill Rosteski, Richard Sahulka and Jason Sahulka. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements
