JEAN SNIEZEK (nee BILSKI) It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, sister and grandmother, Jean Sniezek, who passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at age 84. Jean is survived by her loving family: her daughter Eleanor Kozier (Dennis) her son Joseph; and her grandchildren, Christopher, Michael and Daniel Kozier and Grace Sniezek. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Boleslaw and Paulina Bilski; her brother Bertrand (1998) her sister Wanda Graham (2001) her brother Edmund (2001) and her husband Michael of 54 years on October 25, 2002. Jean was born on April 19, 1918 and raised in Winnipeg. She attended Faraday, Isaac Newton and Margaret Scott schools and graduated from St. Johns High School. She was then employed at Eatons of Canada until the early 1950s. The next 20 years was devoted to raising her family. She was later employed at Sears Canada till her retirement. For all of her life she attended St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Womens League for over 25 years. She often attended noon Mass at the Franciscan Friary. Prayers were said on Wednesday, November 20 at 8:00 p.m. in the evening at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with Rev. Fr. Ceas Chmiel officiating, followed by interment at the Garden of Ascension, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. A special thank you for the support received from Maj. John MacFarlane of Grace Hospital and to the staff on the 2nd floor, especially nurse Sherry who attended the family in Jeans final hours.
