Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE PICKUP February 17, 1911 - November 20, 2002 Peacefully at the Concordia Hospital after a lengthy illness George passed away on November 20, 2002. Left to cherish his memory is wife of 62 years, Myrtle; son Don; two grandchildren, Erin Maxwell and Blair Pickup; two great-granddaughters, Hilary and Sidney; one sister Winnifred Douglas. George was predeceased by his infant twin daughter Darlene; and his mother and father; his sisters, Alice, Flora, Leila, and Margaret. In his younger years George was an outstanding soccer player and a valuable member of the Weston United and Winnipeg Irish Football Clubs. George voluntarily enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces and served with the P.P.C.L.I. Most of his working life after the war was spent with the C.P.R. and following his retirement spent many wonderful years with the Corps of Commissionaires at the Manitoba Legislative Building. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date in the Military section of Brookside Cemetery. Anyone wishing to honour Georges memory please consider the Rainbow Society, Spina Bifida Association or the Salvation Army. He will be missed and always remembered.
