JACK VISCA It is with great sadness and tender hearts that we share the news of the passing of our dear father, Jack Visca, on November 21, 2002, at Pinawa Hospital, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn, his two daughters, Torrie Ferens (Pat) and Kim Podolsky (Neil) and two grandsons, Brock and Rhylan Ferens; his sister Joan Beznoski (George) his two brothers, Warren and Lorne (Betty) and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Marion in 1971, his mother Alice in 1986 and his father Joseph in 1983. Jack was born in Winnipeg on November 17, 1931, and raised in Milner Ridge. At the age of 18, he was the second Manitoban to join the Armed Forces to fight in the Korean war. When he returned, he took training as a firefighter at the Milner Ridge base. Firefighting became a lifetime career for Jack. He worked as a firefighter at the Winnipeg International Airport for 25 years. He retired in 1988 and moved back to his home town of Lac du Bonnet. He had many interests, mostly his obsession for sports. Curling, golf, football, you name it, Jack watched it or participated in it. His zest for life was contagious, his ability to make people laugh uncanny. Our father had many friends and touched many lives. Words cannot express the love and laughter he brought to everyone around him. Dad, you made this world a better place and you will be sadly missed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all his friends, especially John Usackis and Marc Gosselin, for their continued support and daily visits with our father. A big thank you to Dr. Olivier and the staff at Pinawa Hospital. Louise, Myrna and Laurie, thank you for the little extras you did for our father, your compassion and caring ways will never be forgotten. Thank you to the Lakeview girls for looking after our dad over the years, we know it was a hard job, but you did it well. To accept the unacceptable, To forget the grief and pain, Will free us all to live, Until we meet again. We love you, Dad. In compliance with our fathers wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation in Jacks memory may be made to the Firefighters Burn Fund, 202 - 666 St. James St., Winnipeg, MB, R3G 3J6.
