MRS. KATHARINA SCHOENFELD-TESSMAN (nee FUNK) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Katharina Schoenfeld-Tessman. Katharina passed away on November 13, 2002 at Central Haven Special Care Home, Saskatoon, SK. She was predeceased by her parents Anton and Helena Funk;her first husband Peter J. Schoenfeld; her sons Peter Jr. and Henry (Hank) Schoenfeld; and her second husband Nicholas Tessman. Katharina is survived by her children, daughters-in-law Eva and Leona Schoenfeld, daughter Helen Pries (Jake), Anton (Tina), John (Anne), Bill (Glynis), Ralph (Bonnie) and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Stepchildren "The Tessmans": Nicholas (Mary), Cornelius (Susanna), Wilmer (Hertha), Edwin (Josephine), Werner (Linda), Arthur (Elaine), Agnes (Dick), Margaret (Peter), Melita (Peter), Irene (John) and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Our mother was born in Osterwick, Ukraine on May 28, 1903. The Schoenfelds moved to Germany in October 1943; to Volendam, Paraguay in South America in 1947. Then immigrated to Canada in September 1953. Mothers strong faith in God has sustained her through many difficult times in her life. She was a tireless worker involved in church work, choir, womens groups, etc. She read her Bible faithfully and remembered everyone in her daily prayers. She was the Matriarch of the Schoenfeld-Tessman Family. A Service of celebration of her life was held on Saturday, November 16, 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Manor Fellowship Centre, 110 La Ronge Rd., Saskatoon, SK. Interment was followed at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
