Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBETTY JEAN ROSIN (nee PASTULA) 1915 - 2002 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved mother, Betty Jean Rosin on Friday, November 22, 2002, at the Riverview Health Centre. Mom was born in Winnipeg, MB on May 10, 1915, the daughter of Ludwig and Clara Pastula. She grew up in Beausejour, MB and spent her adult life in Winnipeg. She was employed at the Chocolate Shop, Perths, Whitehall and she retired from the Winnipeg Inn. She was a founding member of Grace Lutheran Church. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, William (Bill) on October 9, 2000; and her infant daughter Donna in 1951; as well as seven siblings, Ella Medyk, Joe Pastula, Eddie Pastula, Katie Pastula, Billy Pastula, Stanley Pastula and Louise (Dolly) Lezak. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Shirley (John) Van der Tol and Beverley (Brian) Horst of Winnipeg and Paula (Bob) Clarke of Oakbank, MB; as well as seven grandchildren, Shawn (Brian) Nykoluk, Michael (Cindy) Van der Tol, Darcy (Joe) Markham, Shari Buttino, Whitney (Justin) Berry, Regan and Erin Clarke; and five great-grandchildren, Crystal and Danielle Nykoluk, RJ and Joel Markham and Nicolas Buttino. Mom is also survived by her sister Vicki Mackew; sisters-in-law, Toini Pastula, Doreen Pastula, Elsie Smeall (Ogle), Frieda Jensen, Evelyn Doerkson (Harry) and Ruth and Yvonne Rosin; and numerous nieces and nephews. The memorial service and celebration of Moms life will be held on Saturday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Ave., with Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating. A private interment of her cremated remains with Dad and Donna will take place in the family plot at Elmwood Cemetery. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff on ward 3E of the Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate care of our mother and our family. Amongst numerous other things, Mom will best be remembered for being a hard worker and for maintaining a strong family unit. Family was always very important to her and she looked after her family well. She was a working mother when working mothers were not in "vogue." Our moms first priority was her immediate family and their needs. She will be remembered as a woman who did not take readily to change. Until recently, she continued to use her wringer washing machine and burn wood in the wood stove adjacent to the oil furnace. She did allow us to get her an automatic washing machine and a gas furnace prior to her demise and it was a pleasure to see the joy that these modern conveniences brought her. Mom will always be remembered as the greatest cook and best bargain hunting grocery shopper ever. We will miss not being able to phone Mom for those cooking and baking tips. We will miss the gatherings at the family home, which she occupied for 54 years. We will never forget the bi-annual trips to Minneapolis to buy our school clothes and the grocery shopping trips that Mom and Dad used to take to Grand Forks after they both retired. There are so many more memories too numerous to mention. We cherish the memories of our Mom and will miss her dearly. If your Mom is still with you, please give her a phone call or go to her and give her a hug. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
