HELENA HILDEBRAND (nee FROESE) 1906 - 2002 On November 23, 2002, at Donwood Manor in Winnipeg, our dear Mother went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She died peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Steinfeld, South Russia, and immigrated to Canada in 1926, where she lived in Sperling, MB. In October, 1930, she married Peter P. Hildebrand, and moved to Lowe Farm, MB. He predeceased her on August 12, 1970. She will be sadly missed by her seven children, Jessie Falk, Peter (Anne), Helena (John) Peters, David (Brenda), Bill (Hilda), Linda (Bill) Dueck, and Ruth (Tony) Novak; also 29 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister Kay Derksen of Borden, SK; and one brother David (Annie) Froese of Winnipeg; brothers-in-law, John Olfert of Winnipeg and Dr. Henry and Inger Hildebrand of Abbotsford, BC; and one sister-in-law Annie Froese of Grunthal; as well as many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents David and Justina Froese; husband Peter P.; and infant son David; son-in-law Jake Falk; and daughter-in-law Marge Hildebrand; and one great-granddaughter Lauren Cooper. Mother committed her life to the Lord at an early age. She was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church while she was still in Russia. She continued her personal faith in Jesus Christ until her death. She was a hard working wife and mother who gave liberally of her time and efforts on the farm, in the church, and to her family. Mother was diligent in reading her Bible and will be remembered as a prayer warrior. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Donwood Manor who looked after our Mother so well, especially in her final three years. Funeral service will be held at the Portage Avenue MB Church, 1420 Portage Ave., on Wednesday, November 27 at 10:00 a.m. Viewing will be on Tuesday, November 26, at Klassen Funeral Chapel between 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., as well as prior to the service.
