JULIA CIECKIEWICZ (nee SERAFIN) September 29, 1909 - November 24, 2002 Julia went away to be with the Lord quietly with family by her side at East Gate Lodge. She was predeceased by her first husband in 1945 in France, her son Joseph in 1958 and her second husband in 1969. She had a full long life. She will be missed and fondly remembered by her family. She leaves behind her daughter Helen Swirski; grand-children, Ron Swirski (Anna), Michael Swirski (Wendie), Peter Swirski (Joanne), Christine Alexander (Douglas) and great-grandchildren, Felicia, Douglas Jr., Perry and Dee Dee. Julia was the oldest of five children. She was born in Narol, Poland and came to Canada with her two children in 1951 from France to live with her relatives in Walkleburg. Shortly after, she married Marion Cieckiewicz in 1952 and moved to Highland Glen, where she resided until 1990. She was a devout Christian and took pleasure in attending church at Cooks Creek every Sunday. Julia was an active woman throughout most of her life. She always enjoyed working in the garden or taking care of her flowers. In 1990, she moved to Tyndall Manor and made new friends there. She stayed there until she had an accident. She has resided at East Gate Lodge for the last two and one-half years Thank you to all the staff for your help making her last days comfortable and without pain. We will miss her, but we know that she has gone to a better place. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, November 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue East, Beausejour. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, November 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Cooks Creek, MB, with Rev. Fr. Bo Wardzinski presiding. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Messieurs: Ron Swirski, Michael Swirski, Peter Swirski, Douglas Alexander, Perry Kasprick and Ted Rozmus. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations in memory of Julia Cieckiewicz may be made to East Gate Lodge, Box 1690, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
