JEAN McNEICE 1917 - 2002 Peacefully on November 25, 2002 at the Victoria General Hospital, Jean passed away. She was predeceased by her beloved husband James (Jimmy) in 1966 and her parents, William and Annie Innes, as well as her faithful little dog Curly. Left to cherish her memory are her children, daughter Gerry Giesbrecht (Len) and son Bruce; grandsons, Curtis, Kevin and Terry Giesbrecht (Monica) sister Wilma Merritt (Elmer) nephews, Glenn and Brian Merritt (Maguy) nieces, Lorraine Lester and Carroll Powney, as well as several great nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed being "Grandma" to many foster children through the past 11 years. Jean was born in Winnipeg and attended Lord Roberts and Kelvin High School after which she operated her own hairdressing business for several years. She married Jimmy in 1940 and dedicated the rest of her life to her home and family. After Jimmys death, she was employed by Manitoba Telephone System retiring in 1983. Lifes greatest enjoyments consisted of 45 summers at West Hawk Lake among family and friends and winter holidays on Vancouver Island. Jean was a gentle, compassionate, independent lady with a determination to cope with several disabilities over the past years without complaint. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to all. The family would like to thank the staff at Poseidon Care Home for the care received during her short but enjoyable stay and also to the home care attendants, especially Cora - "the faithful one," for their care and concern over the past several years. Funeral services will be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, on Friday, November 29 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, or to the charity of ones choice.
