EDWARD (EDDIE) DAVID GMITEREK July 5, 1930 - November 25, 2002 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Edward Gmiterek on Monday, November 25, 2002 at his home in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 72 years. Eddie was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Caroline; brothers, Mike (Mary), Anton and John; sisters, Katie (Mike), Jean (Mike) brothers-in-law, Frank Moore, Joe Duma and William Fandych. Eddie will be sadly missed and survived by his wife and long-time companion Pearl Cyncora; daughters, Cindy Cyncora (Corry), Linda Van de Vorst (Louis) grandchildren, Angie (Shenton), Joel, Jordan, Alyssa; and his best four-legged friend Brandy; brothers, Joe (Olga), Stanley (Jean) sisters, Mary Moore, Rosie Duma, Helen Fandych; sisters-in-law, Nellie and Teenie; numerous nieces, nephews, their families, and Eddies many friends. Eddie was born in Allegra, MB on July 5, 1930. He attended Rattray School until the age of 16. He ventured on his own to Beausejour, MB and worked for Consolidated Grain Growers as a helper. For the next 10 years Eddie worked with his brothers in the family construction business. For the following 26 years Eddie worked for numerous construction companies in Winnipeg and retired from Bird Construction in 1980. Eddie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His favourite pastimes were gardening, travelling, attending the auctions, playing cards and walking his faithful friend, Brandy. The family would like extend their appreciation to Dr. Tatiana Panaskevich and her family for their compassionate care, kindness and friendship. Prayers will be held on Thursday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will follow on Friday, November 29 at 1:00 p.m., also at the chapel. Interment will follow in Transcona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian, Kenny and Randy Gmiterek, Louis, Joel and Jordan Van de Vorst. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. When family ties are broken and a loved one has to part, It leaves a wound that never heals and many broken hearts. But looking back with memories upon the path you trod, We bless the years we spent with you and leave the rest to God. Forever in our hearts, - Love your family. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
