SIGRUN SIGURLIN PALSSON We are saddened to announce the passing of our Aunt Sigrun Sigurlin Palsson, born October 2, 1921 in Geysir, MB. Predeceased by her parents, Jon and Una Palsson; and brothers, Johannes, Valdimar and Pall. Survived by sister Lilja Martin; sisters-in-law Olga Johanneson and Ingunn Palsson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sigrun spent her childhood on the family homestead in Geysir. She attended school at Geysir, Arborg and Business College in Winnipeg. She enjoyed a long career at Manitoba Hydro. Family and friends will always remember her musical talents; piano, accordion and singing and her generosity towards all she met. Her strong faith in God sustained her in her later years. A service of remembrance will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church, 1476 Portage Ave., at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 28, the Rev. Beth McCutcheon officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1932, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R2. "Vogguljod" From Cradle Song As in sweet repose my spirit was drifting Into the Mystic far-a-way lands; A halo of blooms a cherub was outfitting, To entwine round my head with her hallowed hands. And for my delight - angels were singing! The heavens were bathed with beams of light! Then a renewed hope in my mind started ringing - The portals of heaven had come in sight. - translated from Icelandic by Sigrun S. Palsson NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
