GEORGE PENNER Peacefully, on Sunday, November 24, 2002, George Penner passed away at the Victoria Hospital, at the age of 81. He will be lovingly remembered by his longtime friend and companion, Florence Ramlackhansingh; his daughter Sandi Scanlan and husband Rick; son George Penner and wife Sam; daughter Judy Penner; grandchildren, Brent Scanlan, Adam, Kyleigh, Aaron, and Breanne Penner; great-grandson Devonte Penner; sisters, Sue Lepp, Helen Kroeker and husband Jake, Erna Stobbe and husband Ben; and brother-in-law John Kroeker and wife Helen; and their families. Dads greatest pleasure came from activities with his family, and his children have fond memories of going to St. Ambroise beach, stopping in at Nicks Inn for hot dogs, and family picnics. He took great pleasure in sporting activities, and reminisced about the track and field events sponsored by the Army, when he served overseas during the Second World War; hunting with his brothers-in-law at "the hermits", and impromptu baseball games at family gatherings. He also loved travelling and he and Florence saw much of North America, especially enjoying the warm weather of Mexico in his later years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. He will be laid to rest with his mother, father, and other family members at Marquette Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Cancer Society or Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel. Phone 338-0331.
