Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTHA ELIZABETH MAY CONSTABLE (nee DEMPSTER) May passed away peacefully on Monday November 25, 2002 at Heritage Lodge, Winnipeg. May was born in Winnipeg on October 29, 1916, grew up in both Keyes and Winnipeg, married a great RCAF guy, travelled, raised her family, worked, lived in three of our provinces, and eventually retired in Gimli. A couple of Mays more enjoyable work experiences were in Canada Post on the Canadian Forces base in MacDonald and later her many years as the Officers Mess manager secretary on the Canadian Forces base in Winnipeg. In retirement she assisted the Gimli Hospital Auxiliary, the Royal Canadian Legion and the area merchants. Apart from her family she enjoyed a variety of pastimes, sewing, cooking, travelling and community services. She leaves surviving three sons, David (Marg) of Ft. St. John, Doug (Nina) of Winnipeg, and Robert now educating in Xiamen, China; her grand and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; her brother Dave (Mary) Dempster of Winnipeg; her sister Kay Follows; sister-in-law Corrine Dempster; and friends. May was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim in 1992, her sister Eilene Chester and her brother Lee Dempster. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 29 at 2:30 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
