MILDRED IRENE REID We are deeply saddened to announce the unexpected passing of our mother and grandmother Mildred Irene Reid at the age of 64 years, on Tuesday, November 26, 2002. Millie was born on June 27, 1938, and was predeceased by her brother Bill Burke. She is survived by her children, Stuart (Kathy), Jarett and Lesley (Scott) and her grandchildren, Justin, Kaitlyn and Megan. Millie is also survived by her sister Eleanor (Lloyd) Boden. Affectionately known to some as "Ivy," Millie spent the majority of her working years at the University of Manitobas Dentistry and Medical Colleges, largely as an assistant to the Dean of Medicine. The University of Manitoba was where she established many lifelong friendships. Throughout her life, she selflessly volunteered her time and energy to such organizations as the Manitoba Paraplegic Association, Manitoba Cancer Association and the Fort Whyte Centre. Still, the greatest devotion was to her children and in recent years to her three grandchildren who all shared an enormous part of her heart. Retired in 1997, Millie creatively pursued her love of art through drawing and painting. Inspired by the beauty of nature, she found herself drawn to the British Columbia coast where she spent the majority of the last year. Millie will be remembered as a woman with a passion for doing the very best for those she cared about. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A heartfelt thank you to the Emergency Room and ICU staff at the Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time. To email expressions of sympathy: leslie@nbardal.mb.ca Subject heading: Millie Reid. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a charitable donation to an organization that brought her much joy in recent years, the Fort Whyte Centre, 1961 McCreary Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 2K9. Cremation has already taken place, but a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
