AUGUST ARTHUR SELCH August 8, 1913 - November 26, 2002 Art passed away peacefully in the loving presence of his wife and family on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg. He leaves to mourn, his wife of 59 years Dorothy; his children, Sandra (David) Phoenix, Ronald (Janice), Eleanor Parent, Lorraine (David) Hagborg, Connie (Ron) Smith, Donna (Gordon) Peluk, Robert (Pam) brother Albert; sister Thelma Langner; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Art was born and farmed in the Beausejour area his entire life. His greatest enjoyment came from visits with family and friends. The house was always open and everyone, no matter what age, always felt at home. He took pleasure in maintaining the yard in park-like condition, spending many hours on his lawnmowers. During the summer growing season, his urgent phone calls reminded family members that the beans needed picking and the weeds pulling. The grandchildren loved visiting Gramma and Grampas farm, with the freedom to explore the old buildings and make clubhouses in the summer and snow forts in the winter. There was always an abundance of animal life to be cared for or taken home for adoption. The family wishes to thank the staff at Stony Plains and the staff on the 2nd floor of the Grace Hospital for their compassion, support and care. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Beausejour MB, with Pastor Dale Berg officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may view at Sobering Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 29 until 9:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu, donations in memory of Arthur may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. SOBERING FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, Beausejour 268-3510 or MB toll free 1-877-776-2220.
