Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT (AB) STANLEY FOREMAN Suddenly at home, Albert "Ab" Foreman, dearly loved husband of Audrey, passed away on November 1, 2002, his 86th birthday. Ab was born in London, England and came to Winnipeg in infancy. He grew up in St. James and as a boy was well-known at Grand Beach where he spent a lot of time at his parents cottage. As a young man he was written up in Ripleys Believe It Or Not acknowledging his participation as a one-legged hockey player (goal tender) in the Church League in Winnipeg. He had a great love of music and sang in the St. James United Church Choir in his youth. During the Second World War he helped to entertain troops as a member of the "Gloom Chasers". Ab was a founding member of the Winnipeg Male Chorus and was presented with an honorary life membership in recognition of meritorious service to the Chorus from 1960 to 1994. Albert worked for the Manitoba government for over 40 years. He began his career in 1939, working as a Licensing and Permit Clerk with the Liquor Control Commission. In 1959 he became a Special Clerk and in 1966 was promoted to the position of Control Clerk, a position he held until his retirement in January 1980. On September 25, 1948, Ab married Audrey Matthews at St. James Anglican Church in Winnipeg and they were devoted to each other for the 54 years of their marriage. Over the years they travelled to many different locations with the Winnipeg Male Chorus to attend the "Big Sing" and in recent years one of Abs favourite pastimes was planning their next cruise. Ab was a founding member of the Winnipeg Ostomy Association and, through his experience, gave support and advice to many over the years. He was also a founding member of the "2080" Seniors Club and served as Treasurer from 1982 until the time of his death, with the exception of 1983 when he served as President of the Club. Ab will be sadly missed by his loving wife Audrey. Ab enjoyed a close relationship with his nieces and nephews and will be remembered with affection by Don Garvie (Jane), Ted Foreman (Lynne), Sid Garvie (Cathy), Doreen VanBeneen (Don), Arlene Turnbull (Jim), Stuart MacPherson and David MacPherson (Bonnie) as well as by special friends, Gerry and Millie Russell. He was predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Ellen; his sisters, Violet Garvie and Nell MacPherson; brothers, Sydney and Eric; sisters-in-law, Irma and Flo; brothers-in-law, Theo Garvie and Charlie MacPherson; and niece Joyce Neilly. Special thanks to the staff of Victoria General Hospital and Home Care for their support and care over the years. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Thursday, December 5, at 12:30 p.m., with Rev. Robin Mather and Rev. Ron McCullough officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Ostomy Association, 204 - 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5; Victoria General Hospital, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8; or to a charity of ones choice.
