Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY METHERINGHAM October 9, 1929 - November 29, 2002 Peacefully at the Grace Hospital, Harry Metheringham, who lived with Cerebral Palsy, passed away at the age of 73 after a long illness. He was predeceased by his wife Arros in February 2002, his parents, Harry and May Metheringham; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Olafur and Helen Olafson, Jack and Thorstina Burke; and one brother-in-law Agnar Magnusson. He leaves behind one sister-in-law, Lauga Magnusson and her children, Maria (Buddy) Jones, and their sons, Brian and Eric, Lynne (Paul Stevens) Magnusson; Rae Magnusson; Janis (Jack Dobbs) Magnusson and a nephew John (Laura) Burke and sons, Jackson and Jeffrey. There are also numerous nieces and nephews in the United States. Harry was born and raised in Winnipeg and received his education there. He worked as a young lad with his parents who leased the golf course at Winnipeg Beach. He worked at many jobs but his last job of 20 years was with the Manitoba Government in the Department of Natural Resources, which he retired from in 1984. Harry was a very caring and loving person who will be deeply missed by all whose life he touched. He was very devoted to his wife, Arros and her family. He enjoyed visiting with anyone he met when he had coffee at the Courts of St. James Salisbury House. Harry enjoyed reading, playing chess and scrabble and in later years he did many needle point pictures. He collected stamps and had a large porcelain dog collection. He enjoyed following politics and over the years got into some good arguments over various leaders. He enjoyed watching baseball, hockey, football and golf. His wonderful sense of humour kept his family and friends entertained and looking forward to healing laughter. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
