THEODOR NEUMANN Theodor Neumann passed over on November 30, 2002, in his 79th year, in the spirit of how he lived his life, doing what he loved at Neumanns Import and Fine Jewellery. Every aspect of Theodors life reflected how he saw himself, as The Thinker, living moment by moment. His personal legacy of kindness, pride, honesty, generosity, privacy, humour, independence and doing it his way, defined him throughout his life. Theodor was born in the Ukraine. In 1943, he came to Germany as a refugee. In 1948, he had the chance to immigrate to Canada and settled in Winnipeg. He was a self taught jeweller. Theodor worked for many years at Eatons and Silverman Jewellers until he was able to open his own jewellery store on Ellice Avenue in 1956. He devoted all his energy to build up his store each day with hard work, excellent service to his customers and a commitment to continue despite the many setbacks and his age. Theodor did not want to retire because he said he wanted to have a purpose in life and be useful. He made the store his home and felt secure there. Theodor valued knowledge and sought it out each day. The lesson he taught others was one of courage, to keep your word and to live your vision. His helpfulness and humour will live in our hearts forever. With great sadness we say goodbye to a brother, a business man, a father and friend. Theodor leaves behind children, Astrid, Carmen, Erica Neumann and Evelyn (Grant) Bridgeman; grandchildren, Laurissa and Garrett; siblings, Kuno Neumann, Margarete Dorber and Mary Falk; aunt Antonia Ternes and many other relatives in Canada and Germany; and friend Connie Delacruz. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the International Center for Immigrant Services in Winnipeg, attention June Rampersad. To honour Theodors life, a service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 6 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. Interment arrangements to be held in Kelowna, BC.
