Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH MARY PENNINGTON Peacefully, on December 1, 2002 Edith Pennington passed away at the Grace Hospital. Edith was born in Antrim, County Antrim, Northern Ireland on January 4, 1910 was employed with the Belfast Telegraph for 22 years prior to her move to Canada in July 1947. She settled in Winnipeg, working at Eatons for one year and then five years with the Winnipeg Tribune where upon she retired and was married for 35 years to the late John (Jack) Pennington who predeceased her on November 26, 1987. Edith resided on Lindsay Street, in River Heights for 42 years and babysat many children on the street for whom she was known as Grandma. Her hobbies included bingo, travelogues and corresponding with her special friends (Mattie, Dorothy and Bailey), back home in Northern Ireland. Edith was a faithful member of St. Aidans Anglican Church for 50 years. Edith is survived by her half brother George Oliver of Winnipeg; and stepchildren, Cecil of Aylmer, QC; Kenneth of Winnipeg; and Clifford of St. Petersburg, FL and their families. Edith was predeceased by her stepchildren, Ronald in 1997 and Margaret in 2001, both of Mississagua, ON. Thank you to the staff at Tuxedo Villa for their excellent care during the last seven years, and to the staff at the Grace Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion in Ediths last few days. Funeral services will be held at St. Aidans Anglican Church, Thursday, December 5 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Ken Turnbull officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to St. Aidans Church, 274 Campbell St., Winnipeg, MB R3N 1B5 Until we meet again.
