THEA HANSON Peacefully, on Monday December 2, 2002, Mrs. Thea Hanson passed away at the Pine Falls Health Complex, at the age of 81 years. She will be fondly remembered by her sons, Ron (Jill) of Calgary, AB; Larry (Vivian) also of Calgary, Les (Peggy) of Winnipeg and Doug (Thelma) of Pine Falls, MB; her grandchildren, Kevin, Connor, Kim, Kaylin, Jennifer, Steven, Owen and Kirk; sisters, Sophie, Needa, Ruby and Freda. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon; sisters, Huldus and Hazel and brothers, Clarence and Elmer. Thea grew up on a farm in Norquay, SK where she attended Grantsburg School. After leaving Norquay, she moved to Manitoba where she worked in an Ammunition Factory and then later as a cook in a Residential School. She later joined the army and worked as a cook in BC until the end of the war. She met her future husband Gordon in Saskatoon and they were later married in 1949. Together they moved to Thunder Bay, ON where they had four sons. The family then moved to Sault Ste. Marie - then later to Pine Falls where she lived the rest of her life. She was an active volunteer with the United Church Women, The Thrift Shop and also at the Library. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Falls United Church with Rev. Bonita Garrett officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Falls Mill Cemetery. Sincere appreciation to the staff of Sunnywood Manor, her home since 1998. Thank you also to the staff of Pine Falls Health Complex for your care and compassion. The medical, nursing and support staff made a difficult time just a bit easier. Special thanks to Evelyn for her enduring friendship.
