Date of Passing: Nov 27, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY NEIGHBOUR (nee BOCEK) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a dear friend and family member, Mary. Suddenly, on November 27, 2002 in Nanaimo, BC at the age of 71, she left us. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Doug. Mary leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters, Ann (Vandersteen) and Lynn (Brimacombe) and their families; grandchildren, Lucas, Logan, Clinton, Morgan and Carter; sisters, Anne (Rutledge), Alice (Moorehead), Nellie (DeGraeve) and brother Peter (Bocek) and their families, as well as many family and friends, far and wide. Born to Polly and Adolph Bocek on February 2, 1931 at Fisher Branch, Mary was the oldest of five. She continued her education going to Teulon for grade 12 and later teachers college. Here, she made friends that she stayed in touch with all her life. She began her teaching career at Russ, Rosser, Mountainside and later Derry School. It was during these early years that she met and married him. Mary and Doug moved back to Fisher Branch to take up farming and Mary - teaching in town. After teaching for 31 years, she retired at the age of 55 to pursue the loves in her life - her grandchildren, her garden, travel, family history and family events. She lived her life as few of us do - living in the day without making regrets for tomorrow. We shall miss her selfless giving and the unconditional love and support she gave to all of us. A celebration of her life will be held in the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Parish on December 7 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Thiessen officiating. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place in Carberry, MB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher Branch Handivan in care of the Fisher Branch Funeral Home, (204) 372-6271.
