Born: Feb 23, 1953
Date of Passing: Dec 03, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDERICK JAMES SCHICK Tragically on December 3, 2002, I lost my best friend and my soulmate, my Fred - or - Rick. He will be lovingly remembered by his "lil darlin" Shirley; children, Bradley, Paul, and Carla Ostapyk (Jeremy), and one of the greatest joys of his life, his grandson Daniel. His faithful dog Samuel Hoover Schick will miss him greatly. Fred was born February 23, 1953 in St. Boniface, MB, the oldest of 11 children. Fred spent most of his life in the trucking industry, and he knew every mile, every road in North America. He loved his family, friends, camping, fishing, and football. Coach Schick will always be remembered by the boys on the St. Vital Mustangs Team. He was known for his quick wit, and his uncanny way of getting to know a person in a short time. He gave from the heart with no expectations always putting everyone before himself. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, and his mathematical skills were superb. He was one of a kind, an amazing man and companion. He is survived by a daughter Jennifer, and forever remembered by his family, Janis Wessel (Dave), Phyllis Ritchie (Ray), Michael (Pat), Alan (Gail), Sherryl Dillabough (Scott), Leonard (Charlene), Edwina Brasseur, Michele Boczkowski (Jurek), Frank (Terry), Rose Anna, Jocelyn Bilan (Derek) godmother auntie Margerite Guigeno, uncle Ernest and auntie Ludina, and auntie Louise Mireault; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Sadly missed by Shirleys family, Rita and Neil McColl, Heather and Gil Rekken and family, Melva and Bill Lyons and family. He was predeceased by his mother Madeline, father Mike, and son Jeffrey. A service celebrating Freds life will be held on Saturday, December 7 at 2:30 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Special thanks to Sergeant McInnis, and to Constable Liske of the O.P.P. Kenora, ON. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, or to a charity of ones choice. "To the world he was but one, To us he was the world."
