Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD BAXTER MACDONALD It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Don Macdonald, on Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at the Riverview Health Centre, following a long battle with leukemia. Don is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Adele; daughters, Donna (Paul), Brenda (Peter), Shannon (Herb), Darlene (Glenn), Melanie (Brendan), Heather (Mark), and (son-in-law Ken) grandchildren, Shannon (Ron), Matthew, Pamela (Marvin), Robyn (Jeff), Caitlin, Ryan, Kent, Chelsey, Ashley, Thomas, Kyle and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Maryn, Corah-Lee, Conlan, Sarah and Cameron; brother Tom; sisters, Mavis (Jim), Flora, Edith (Sonny) mother-in-law Freda Hammond; and several sisters and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by parents, Dan and Mary; father-in-law Armour, daughter Carole and grandson Sean. He was born August 20, 1930 in Indian Head, SK. At age 17, "D.B." joined the army and served for 36 years in the Artillery, attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Don served in Korea in 1952. Later he was Regimental-Sergeant Major of 2 R.C.H.A., Petawawa, ON and then as Base Chief Warrant Officer, Shilo, MB. After retirement in 1985, he became a member with Corps of Commissionaires in Winnipeg for nine years. Don was Past Master of Lord Selkirk Masonic Lodge #137 and a member of Keystone Chapter 5, Royal Arch Masons, Brandon. He also enjoyed membership in the Winnipeg Gunners Association, Korean Veterans Association and St. James Legion #4. Reading history and military books, watching T.V. sports, fishing in Lake of the Woods and travelling were great enjoyments in his life. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren and they will miss him. In accordance with Dons wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive condolences from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, at Chapel of Memories in Wojciks Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Ave. at Sharp Blvd. There will be a private family service of interment at Garry Memorial Park. Adele and family sincerely thank Dr. Ian Maxwell and staff, especially Ann, at the Oncology Clinic, Victoria General Hospital; Dr. Bow and staff at Health Sciences Centre; Dr. W. Heidenreich; and "3E" at Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion to Don and our family.
