VIOLET MAE DENNEHY We are sorry to announce the passing of Violet Mae Dennehy. She died peacefully on the morning of December 7, 2002, at the Misericordia Place. She leaves to remember her with joy and love, her two sons and daughter, her sister-in-law Helen Dennehy, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Doreen Dennehy; and her sister Adelle Johnson of Vancouver. Her son Michael and daughter-in-law Gail have two children, Michael Patrick and Shannon. Michael Patrick has two beautiful babies, Brendan and Sarah with his wife Susan. Just the mention of their names would bring a smile to Grandma Ds face. Shannon and Bryan Doell have two lovely little boys, Connor and Griffin. Grandma was predeceased by Griffins twin brother Christian. Her son Johns daughter Jennifer predeceased Violet in 1994. Johns son, John Patrick resides in Vancouver and Grandma always loved hearing his news. Her daughter Barbara and her two sons, Matthew and Daniel were an integral part of Grandmas life. She took great joy in both boys and delighted in the fact that Matthew is presently teaching in Korea and Daniel is in aviation training. Violet was born in Winnipeg on July 29, 2002, to Hilda (nee Etheridge) and Harold Johnson. Harold was a Winnipeg Police Officer and he passed away when Mom was young. Hilda remarried after several years to Charles Adams of Carman, MB. Charlie became a source of strength and joy to Violet and to her children. Vi married Bill Dennehy and her life was firmly centred around her family. It could be said that she earned a degree in Law, one in Science and a Teaching degree, for she was the constant push behind her children to achieve good education. That was in itself a huge task. She was very active in volunteer work at both St. Marys Academy and St. Pauls College. For over 30 years she volunteered at the Misericordia Hospital where she developed lifelong friends. When she became part of the senior citizen community at the "Miserie" her many friends over the years often stopped by her room to just "drop-in" and say "Hi Vi." Her focus in life centred around her children and grandchildren. She fulfilled the word "grandma" in every possible way. Her kindness, generosity and sweet temperament endeared her to all who knew her. She was a true lady. Violet never used harsh language or unkind words. Her deep faith always kept her glass half full. She looked at the best side of any given situation, she was up beat and was never known to complain. We know God placed His big hand on Vi-Lees head and took her with him to Heaven. She is with Bill and Nana and Grandpa and aunt Dodo and aunt Audrie and her dear friend Maree. Her stay at Misericordia Place was enriched by the wonderful and caring staff who tended to her so joyfully. She participated in many activities from wheel chair bowling, to barbeques, to many outings around the city. A celebration of Violets life will be held on Wednesday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Misericordia Place Chapel, 44 Furby St., with Fr. Vince Herner officiating. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the second floor for their devotion to Mom. To Vickie and Norman and Ryan and Ray and especially to Richard, the recreation director, for making so many of Moms days so enjoyable we appreciate all your efforts on behalf of Mom. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Breast Cancer Action Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba. Arrangements have been entrusted to: EDWARD J. COUTU LTD. 680 Archibald Street 253-5086
