MICHAEL HNYBIDA Peacefully, on Saturday, December 7, 2002, Michael Hnybida, aged 95 years, resident of Holy Family Nursing Home, passed away at Concordia Hospital. He is survived by a son Isadore of Winnipeg; and three daughters, Marj Sontag of Calgary, AB, Pat Lapointe (Leon) of Wichita, KS, and Janice Frykas (Michael) of Winnipeg; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister Mary Maryniuk of Dauphin, MB; and special friend Ollie Taylor of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his loving wife Anne (Roth) in 1993; sisters, Anne Marchuk (1981), Nellie Strilkiwski (2002), Alice Babiuk (2002) and brother Don Haines(1997). Mike was born in Mossy River, MB on August 14, 1907 and was one of the last news agents working on the train for Canada Railway News. He retired in February 1968. During his brief stay at Holy Family he received great pleasure in listening to the Monday choir. Prayers will be said on Monday, December 9, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 10 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave. with Rt. Rev. Mitrat Jaroslaw Holowaty officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of N3 West at Concordia Hospital for their wonderful care.
