MILDRED SPARROW Peacefully on December 6, 2002 with her family by her side, Mildred Sparrow passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Mildred is survived by sons, Herb and Bob (Diane) and grandchildren, David, Patty, Bill, Brian and Ben; and great-granddaughter Stephanie. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Merle, son Brian and daughter-in-law Dorothy. Mildred Margaret, nee Cowgill was born in Kendall, England. Her family moved to Estevan, SK when she was an infant. Her natural compassion and care for others led her to pursue a career in nursing. In 1932, Mildred graduated from Moose Jaw General Hospital School of Nursing where she went on to practice in Moose Jaw, St. Paul, MN and Winnipeg. Following her marriage to Merle in 1937, Mildred continued to provide dedicated nursing care to family and friends for many years thereafter. In their retirement years, Mildred and Merle immensely enjoyed racing their standard bred horses throughout western Canada and the United States. Her "knack" to pick a winner was uncanny. It was Mildreds remarkable sense of humour and positive outlook on life which endeared her to everyone. Mom, your strong spirit for life has enriched us all and this will be with us forever. Now may you rest in peace. The family would like to extend their appreciation for all the care and support Mildred received from the Tache Nursing Home (Ward 5ABC) and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency. A heartfelt thanks is also extended to Josephine Karlsson, a most dear and loved family friend whose care and devotion to Mildred will always be remembered. Respecting her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Mildred Sparrow will take place on Tuesday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road. Flowers graciously declined. Donations may be sent to St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 9Z9. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
