Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE JEANNE DACQUAY (nee GARNIER) It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Bonne Maman, and great-grandmother on Sunday, December 8, 2002 at the Grace General Hospital. Left to mourn her untimely passing and cherish her memory are her son Hubert (Bert) and his wife Louise; and her daughter Claudette and husband Neil Haufek; grandchildren, Dan (Jacqueline), Don (Diane) Dacquay, Alan (Cindy) Haufek, Michelle Kelly (Shane) and great-grandchildren, Kyle, Brennon, Tyler, Conner, Garret Dacquay; Haley, William Haufek; Cody, Cristal, Dawson Kelly; sister-in-law Rolande Garnier; and special friend Al Charron; as well as several nieces and nephews. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Bill of 54 years in November 1989; her mother Marie Theresa Garnier; father Emile Garnier; brother Hubert Garnier; and her sisters, Gabrielle Blanc and Marguerite Turner. Jeanne was born on December 29, 1913 and grew up in St. Boniface. She worked part-time in retail at The Bay for many years. At the age of 59, Jeanne graduated at the top of her class as a hair stylist and for many years styled numerous clients, family and friends. Jeanne loved life and lived it to the fullest. She had a passion for singing, dancing, acting, painting in oils, writing poetry and playing bingo. She also loved "dressing to the nines" in glitz and sparkles. She enjoyed bowling, shuffle board, doing Tai Chi, crossword puzzles and playing cribbage. She volunteered willingly of her time and drove many of her friends to doctors appointments and bingo games. She was seldom ever home and was always on the go. Jeanne sang for several years in numerous choirs including the "Sweet Adelines," Partage du Bonheur, Alliance Chorale, and in the Precieux Sang Parish choir for over 50 years. She was a founding member of Precieux Sang Parish and a member of Les Dames De Ste Anne. She donated a lot of her energies to the Church, particularly with fund raising. Her honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Dan, Don, Alan, Michelle; nephew Alan Turner; and her eldest great-grandson Kyle Dacquay; her nieces, Suzanne Doyle, Jocelyn Ronyck and husband Robert; and long time family friend Ed Prefontaine. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 13 at Precieux Sang, 200 Kenny St., with Rev. Fr. Marcel Chaput officiating. In accordance with Moms wishes cremation has taken place. Private interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeannes memory may be made to the Grace Hospice, Grace General Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7, 837-0375.
