Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT LAURENCE HALLDORSSON The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom then shall be afraid? Psalm 27:1 It is with deep sorrow, and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, on December 8, 2002 at Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg MB. Besides his loving wife Jacqueline of 49 years, Albert will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his children, David, Julianna, Deborah, Joel, Jonathan, Mishael (Christina), and Gabriel (Cheryl) 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish his beautiful memory are his half-sisters, Vivian and Anne, along with his many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Bodvar and his mother Anna, as well as his granddaughter Danielle. Albert was born in Selkirk, MB on January 26, 1925. He moved to Winnipeg at the age of eight to live with his grandmother Julianna, and spent the majority of his years there. He was first a fisherman on Lake Winnipeg near Hecla Island with his uncles and cousins. After he married his wife Jacqueline on August 1,1953, he worked at Eatons and then the Winnipeg Post Office, until he retired at the age of 65 years. He started painting water, oil, and Charcoal paintings, along with many pencil sketches, at the age of ten. He created three murals for their respective centennials, Panorama of Canada, Panorama of Manitoba, and Panorama of Winnipeg. He received recognition by H.R.M. Queen Elizabeth of England; of whom he received four letters, which celebrated his life, works and accomplishments. Albert was also an author and poet and published two books, Wings of the Wind and Fruits of the Valley. All of his life he sang professionally and trained others to sing professionally as well. He studied under W. H. Anderson the composer. He amassed great knowledge on too many topics to mention, and was very proud of his Icelandic heritage. He willing and freely passed this knowledge onto everyone who came his way, virtually to everyone he met. Dad was a man of faith, prayer and service to all that crossed his path and his passion for life was contagious. He was a humble man of great wisdom and intelligence whose strength of character and unbeatable will helped him to overcome the many obstacles and challenges that he faced in life including a disability. He had a quiet gentle and gracious spirit, which was an inspiration to all. He was a true and loyal friend to many and gave to all the sense of encouragement and hope that he placed in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He had great compassion for people along with a great sense of humour. His faith gave him a quiet strength and he lived each day to the fullest. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He took great joy in their visits and in all of their accomplishments. He was much loved by them for his unfailing patience and guidance. To all of his children, he gifted his love of learning, integrity and his great respect for all peoples, especially his Icelandic heritage. Dad, although our hearts are full of sorrow to lose you, we take great comfort in knowing that we will see you in heaven. Words cannot express the sense of deep loss we feel at your passing but we know that you will rest in peace in the arms of your Loving Heavenly Father. The days will be empty without you Dad, but you will always be in our hearts, minds and memories. The viewing of Albert will take place, Thursday evening between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on December 12 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. The funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., with internment at Husavik, near the lake that he loved. Rest in peace Dad till we meet again. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
