JOEL BLOOMFIELD 1937 - 2002 We are so sad to announce the passing of our loving Dad, Zaida, brother and friend, Joel Bloomfield. Dad passed away December 9, 2002 at the Luther Home, at the age of 65. He was predeceased by his father, Philip in 1979 and his mother, Marion in 1993. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Mindy Irek, Michelle (Ken) Richards and Gillian Bloomfield; three beautiful grandchildren, Lacey-Jane, Casey, and Shane Richards; former wife and good friend, Sandi Bloomfield; brothers, Auby (Linda), David (Sheila) sisters, Naomi Turbovsky, Judi (Larry) Fielding. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dad had an accomplished career as an accountant with companies in various places including Winnipeg, Regina, Burlington and Hamilton. He is also remembered by many as a restauranteur, sharing ownership of the Lock, Stock and Barrel with his brother Auby and later venturing on his own with the Underground Pizza Works (1976 to 1983). Although Dad suffered with Multiple Sclerosis for over 20 years, we never once heard him complain about his pain or his situation. Thats just the kind of man he was. Dad will be remembered as a loving, humble and gentle man who always put family first. He touched everyone he met with his own brand of humour. He had a distinctive laugh and such an expressive face. Well never forget all of the wonderful times we had with our precious father, brother and friend. We will miss him every day of our lives. A graveside service was held at Rosh Pina Memorial Park on December 10. Pallbearers were Benji Bloomfield, Josh Bloomfield, Michael Cantor, Larry Fielding, Jack Hurtig and Karl Rohne. The family would like to give special thanks to the Luther Home staff for their years of compassionate care, especially to our friend Wanse. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
