MARGARET HELEN EYVINDSON (nee STEWART) Peacefully on December 8, 2002 at the Lions Prairie Manor, widow of the late Christopher, passed away at the age of 92 years. Born December 12, 1909 on her parents farm near Roland, MB. Predeceased by her husband, Christopher and grandson Warren, Helen will be forever missed by her devoted family, daughters, Lynda Rujak (John) of Edmonton, Carol Shoji (Kuts) of Vancouver, Lois Erb (Fred) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Chris and Paul Rujak, Conrad (Jessica) and Michael (Michelle) Erb, Karin and Leslie Shoji; brothers, Miller (Marge) Stewart of Winnipeg and Robert Stewart of Surrey, BC. Helen had a career as a teacher for seven years before she met and married Chris in 1936. After marriage, they farmed at Westbourne and Poplar Point before retiring to Portage in 1973. Always active in the community, Helen was a life member of the UCW, the Poplar Point Horticultural Society and was a District Commissioner for the Girl Guides for several years. She did volunteer work with the MS Society and Portage Hospital Auxiliary. Her optimistic outlook and her enjoyment of life was always an inspiration to her family and to all who knew her. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of the Lions Prairie Manor and Betty Nicholls for their loving care and friendship. Interment of the cremated remains preceded at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will take place at Trinity United Church, Saturday, December 14 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Ross Taylor officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Helens name to the Lions Prairie Manor, 24 - 9th St., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3V4 or a charity of your choice.
