Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER KIERNICKI Peacefully on December 10, 2002 at his residence Walter Kiernicki passed away at the age of 90 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years Julia; children, Michael (Hazel), Jeannette (Ken) grandchildren, Brent (Nicole), Carla (Darren), Rachelle, Melanie (Dwane) and great-grandson Caidyn; also sister Stella (Paul) Zacharuk. He was pre-deceased by his parents Nicola and Rosalia, and niece Rosemarie. Walter was born in Winnipeg and shortly thereafter with his parents moved to the family homestead in Okno. There he spent most of his younger years farming, hunting, trapping, and fishing. In 1944 he married Julia and continued farming until 1952 when they moved to Arborg. He continued farming and working as a mechanic for various shops. He was also custodian for Arborg Community Hall for seven years. After his retirement his passion remained doing things he loved outdoors as well as his love for reading. He also continued visiting the family farm and giving advice. He possessed a great sense of humour and was truly a wealth of knowledge. He did not hesitate to help friends and family. Prayer service will be held Friday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel, Arborg, MB. Deacon Harry Chuckry officiating. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church, Arborg. Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment to follow at St. Phillips Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Kosie, Darren Firman, Dwane Krenkevich, Brian Crones, Paul Crones, and Lucien Meilleur.
