HEATHER MAISSAN On Saturday December 7, 2002 in St. Boniface Hospital our beautiful child slipped away in her sleep, at the age of 25 years, with her family at her bedside. She will be forever remembered by her parents, Arie and Jennifer; brothers, Christopher and Alexander; and relatives in the United Kingdom and Ontario, as well as her friends and church family. Heather attended Oakewald, General Byng and Vincent Massey schools. She graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Winnipeg. She worked at the Hallmark Card store in the Grant Park Mall, a job she loved, and was just beginning to pursue her dream of working in her field of micro-biology when she was diagnosed with cancer and began a two year battle with two major surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy. The cancer took her body but not her spirit, which remained strong. We would like to express our thanks to the many health care professionals at CancerCare Manitoba and St. Boniface Hospital, especially to the staff of ward 6AW, who cared for her with kindness and compassion. A service will be held to celebrate Heathers life at Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church at 1771 Pembina Hwy. on Friday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. Her friends, Pastors Mary and Cal will officiate. A time of viewing will be held on Thursday December 12, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. In Heathers memory, donations would be appreciated to CancerCare Manitoba or to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
