ADA SCHWARTZ It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ada Schwartz on December 12, 2002 at the Stonewall Hospital. Ada is survived by her beloved husband Elvin of 38 years, sister Jean (Mike), brothers, Bill, John, Albert (Barbara), James, David (Yvette) and sister-in-law Mia. She leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Anastasia Slobodian; her brothers, Mike and Edward; and sister-in-law Teena. Ada was born on August 15, 1932 in the district of Veregin, SK. She grew up on a farm with her sister and brothers, she completed her high school in Pelly, SK and later continued her education at Success College in Winnipeg. She was employed at Empire Sash and Door as a secretary for over 20 years and during that time met and married Elvin. Ada later retired to help build their dream home in the countryside in the R.M. of Rosser. Ada loved art, music, sewing, cooking and had a keen interest in organic gardening. She very much enjoyed growing new varieties of tomatoes starting them from seed. One of Adas joys was to travel and in her earlier years took extensive vacations to Barbados and Hawaii. Her love for nature and animals was evident with the attention and care she gave her special pet Lyndie. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall. Special thanks go to the hospital and nursing staff at St. Boniface and Stonewall Hospital for the care and attention you gave Ada. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
