DOREEN VELMA WALKER (nee HIGGINS) On Sunday, December 8, 2002 at the Hunter Memorial Hospital, Teulon, MB, Doreen Walker, aged 78 years, of Gimli, MB. Doreen is survived by her daughters, Sandra Isfeld (friend Brian Mccallum) and children, Shane (Monique), Laurie and Tara (Paul) Cynthia (David) and children, Kristinn, Julie, Vanessa and Emily; great-grandchildren, Melodie, Vincent, Adric, Kandra, Emily and Charlotte; brother Leonard (Sylvia) and sisters, Verla, Shirley and Venetta; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband David; parents, Roland and Louise; and brother Murray. Doreen had resided in Gimli for over 45 years. She was a lifetime member and past president of the Gimli Womens Institute. As well, Doreen was a founding member of the United Way in Gimli and she was employed at Betel Home, Gimli for many years. She was an avid bowler, golfer and loved to play darts. In later years, she participated in the MSOS Games. Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
