VICTORIA BUFFIE Peacefully in her sleep, on December 9, 2002, Victoria Buffie passed away at Bethania Personal Care Home. A remarkable and much loved mother, grandmother and friend, she will be sorrowfully missed. Born February 8, 1914, in Winnipeg, Victoria grew up the daughter of a North End shoemaker and took pride in the fact that at 16, she helped to run her fathers shop. As a young girl she loved to ice skate and go dancing with her sisters and life long friend Jean Wilde. Those passions continued through her life, later she became a spectator and "livingroom dancer," with her grandchildren. Married in 1934 to Charles Buffie, she was a resourceful homemaker, sewing, crocheting and crafting to make their home warm and lovely. Victoria was perhaps most at home in her kitchen where her famous, "what can I feed you?" made her a favourite with friends and family. For twelve years she cooked in the kitchen at Investors Syndicate. Her real life was with her family, however, and she lovingly cared for her daughter Carole through the many years of a dreadful, fatal cancer, helping to raise her three children and nurse them through the terrible months after their mothers passing. A source of strength and comfort always, Victoria made an impression on all with whom she came into contact. Always ready with a joke, she teased, laughed and cajoled her way into the good graces of strangers and friends. Everybody loved "Mrs. B" for her sharp wit, warmth and welcoming home. Predeceased by her children, Sandra, Carole and Leonard; and her husband, Charlie. She leaves to mourn her sons, Kenneth (Mitch), William (Bill) wife Sharon, and Gerald (Butch) wife Peggy, and her daughter Joan; her sisters, Jean, Olga, Carol and brother, Walter and their children. Grandchildren Donald, Susie, Sandra, Sheri Lee and Lenny Junior, and great-grandchildren, Josh, Nicole, Austin and Michael. So many gracious and wonderful people were with her at the end. Special thanks and affection to friends and neighbours Iris and Ronnie Carlisle and Caroline Humburger. The staff and nurses at the Misericordia Extended Care Ward were compassionate and respectful. She will be greatly mourned and terribly missed by all. A celebration of Victorias life will take place on Friday, December 13, at the home of her grandson, Don Schledwitz, 637 Windsor Ave., between 1:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. A private service for the family will be held at another time. As per her wishes, Victoria will be interred with her beloved daughter Carole, at Brookside Cemetery. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474
