BETTY UNRAU On Friday evening, December 6, 2002 Elizabeth (Betty) Unrau quietly went to meet her Saviour and be reunited with her husband Peter. Mom was born on October 13, 1908 in Grandenthal, Russia to Kornelius and Anna Driediger. At the age of 16, she along with her family immigrated to Canada and settling in Oaklake, MB. Being the oldest daughter in the family she came to Winnipeg working as a maid sending most of her earnings home to help support her younger siblings. Marriage came later for her but she married perfectly to our father Peter Unrau in 1944. They farmed in the Minto-Margaret area for about 25 years retiring to Boissevain in 1971. Two daughters, Marlene and Lisa were blessed to call them mom and dad. After Dad passed away in 1998 Mom moved to Evergreen Place in Boissevain where she was lovingly cared for. It was not where she wanted to be but she was graceful in her acceptance of her physical situation and never lost her positive attitude. Mom was always a pleasure to visit even when she could no longer bake her famous pies and ammonia cookies. She is survived by Marlene (Abe) Friesen, their children, Paul, Dana (Adam), Brent, Marlise; Lisa (John) Loewen of Michigan, their children, Jason (Heidi) and Nathan. Also one great-grandchild Easton Magarrell. Mom is also survived by four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law and numerous nieces and their families. KILLARNEY & BOISSEVAIN FUNERAL HOME in care of arrangements.
