Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIDA BURKE (nee ZIMMERMAN) Passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at Calvary Place Personal Care Home, Winnipeg at the age of 94 years. Remaining to cherish her memory are her sons, Norman Mervin Burke (Val) and Barry Eric Burke (Sharon) two sisters, Ruth Sanduliak and Edna Robb; brother Edward Zimmerman (Evelyn) sisters-in-law, Linda and Anne Zimmerman, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Mervin Ellsworth Burke, her parents, Rudolph and Rosalie Zimmerman; two brothers, Otto and Bill Zimmerman; four sisters, Tilly Fish, Lillian Jones, Emma Verch and Martha Ziegenhagen. Ida was born April 21,1908 in Winnipeg. She was raised in the Moosehorn, MB area until her teens, later moving with her parents to Greenwald, MB where they farmed for nineteen years. She married Mervin Burke in 1929, resided in Listowell and Barrie, ON, Calgary, AB, Ottawa, ON and finally returned to Winnipeg in 1955 with Mervin in retirement from the armed forces. Ida will be remembered for her incredible baking, talented crochet work, and her renowned "tell it like it is" attitude. In lieu of flowers, donations in Idas memory can be made to the Calvary Place Personal Care Home, 1325 Erin St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 3R6 or to the charity of ones choice. The family wishes to thank the staff of Calvary Place Personal Care Home for the outstanding care Ida received during the past three years. The funeral service in remembrance of Ida will be held on Thursday, December 19 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Winnipeg.
