BETTINA FAY SPROULE (nee LAPIERRE) 1922 - 2002 Peacefully, December 5, 2002, Betty, beloved wife and best friend of Jim, her husband of 55 years, passed away at Deer Lodge Hospital. Also left to cherish her memory is her loving family; sons, Jim (Carol), grandsons Cory and Kevin; Rick (Bev), grandsons Matthew and Christopher; daughter Joanne (Robin) Springett; sister Joan (Hervey) Berry; sisters-in-law Irene (Bert) Comrie and Myrtle Murphy. She also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins and many life long friends. Betty was predeceased by her father Robert (Pip) in 1960 and her mother Stella (Nana) in 1983. Betty was born and raised in Winnipeg, where she graduated from Kelvin High School and Angus Business College. Her work career began as a secretary in a law office and then on to Trans Canada Airlines (T.C.A.), forerunner of Air Canada, where she was happily employed until 1947. Betty was also involved with and President of the Alpha Iota Sorority. She enjoyed bowling, tried her hand at golf and curling with Jim, and when their family arrived she became a homemaker. Mom enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, baking, and playing cards, especially her Monday Bridge Club. Betty and Jim enjoyed several trips together, by car, train, air, and cruise ship. There are many happy memories of weekends and vacations spent camping throughout the Whiteshell and the USA when the boys were young and also of their trip overseas with their daughter to England and Scotland. Mom was always a quiet, ladylike person who spoke kindly of everyone she knew. She had integrity and a gentleness that will be greatly missed. Mom loved her children and grandsons dearly, and was always a staunch supporter of all her familys endeavours. You will be in our hearts forever. We love you, Mom! The family wishes to extend thanks and gratitude to all the staff of the T.A.C.T. unit for the care, kindness, and compassion given Betty and her family during her stay at Deer Lodge Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A private family service was held at St. Andrews Anglican Church with interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Thursday December 12, 2002.
