Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES "CLAYTON" STANGER Peacefully on Monday, December 2, 2002, James Clayton Stanger passed away at the age of 75 years, in the Swan River Valley Hospital, Swan River, MB. Clayton was born July 8, 1927 in Portage la Prairie, MB to James and Elsie Stanger. He married Jean Arneson on August 9, 1952 in High Bluff, MB. They spent their first year together in Brandon, MB, where Clayton was employed at the Indian residential school. They then moved to Swan River the following spring where he worked as the Land Representative for the Department of Mines and Resources and the Department of Agriculture until his retirement in July of 1987. Clayton enjoyed family times and was especially proud of his five grandchildren. He enjoyed travelling, both in Canada and to Arizona. He drove to Arizona for 14 winters, missing the only year Jean passed away. He enjoyed and was very proud of his yard and enjoyed people stopping in so he could show them his flower garden and fish pond. He really enjoyed his coffee times with friends. Clayton was predeceased by his wife Jean in 1994, his father James in 1966 and his mother Elsie in 1985. Clayton leaves to mourn his two daughters, Noreen (Jim) Webster of Swan River and Lori (Brian) Contant of Winnipeg and five grandchildren, Janene, Darren and Shauna Webster and Aaron and Jayme Contant; his brothers, Orval (Shirley) Stanger of Guelph, ON, Ron (Isabel) Stanger of Carman, MB; brother-in-law Arnold (Betty) Arneson of Thunder Bay, ON and one nephew Rick and four nieces, Debbie, Donna, Kathy and Judy. Funeral service was held from the St. Andrews United Church Swan River, MB on Friday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Murray Wenstob officiating. Interment followed in the Birchwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers were, David Madill, Richard Loat, Alvin Alford, Darren Webster, Janene Webster and Ian Kitch. Honorary pallbearers were, Elaine and Erin Madill, Elizabeth Madill, Kaz and Bernice Nowak, Lloyd and Betty Bertram, Laura Poole, Darlene Alford, Rhonda Kitch, Leonard Rose and Wendy Hickson. If friends desire, memorial donations in Claytons memory, may be made to the St. Andrews United Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 39, Swan River, MB, R0L 1Z0. Arrangements were entrusted to Swan Valley Funeral Services Ltd., 363 Kelsey Trail (Hwy. 10 North), Swan River, MB. Phone: (204) 734-5775.
