ELVA FONTAINE (nee COURCHENE) July 23, 1935 - December 13, 2002 Peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2002 Elva Fontaine went to Paradise. She was predeceased by her dad Maurice Courchene in 1953, her brothers, Bernard in 1987 and Edward in 1971; one sister Rosie Guimond in 1981; and her mother Sarah Courchene in 1983. Elva worked for S.E.A. in Sagkeeng First for 22 years as a janitor retiring in May of 1999 due to illness. Elva loved shopping in Winnipeg and Selkirk. She was also a good driver in the city. She loved cooking and playing bingo until only a couple of years ago. Elva was married to Edgar Fontaine who she leaves to mourn after 40 years of marriage. She also leaves to mourn her son Brian (Wilma) and their children, Jessica, Mandy, Brian Jr., Jonah and Katina; her daughter Donna Laura Courchene (Larry) and their children, Tyrone and Natasha; Jackie Alva Courchene (Clint Twoheart) and their children, Haley, Lindsay, Callie and Trent; Lawrence Courchene (Nancy) and their children, Kenneth, Tara and Brennon. Also a grandson Len (Sonya) and their children, Jocelyn, Sheyann, Kyle, Shayne and Ryan. Elva leaves her sisters, Christina, Elise, Felicate, Marie and Linda Swampy as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Pine Falls Hospital for the special care they gave her, especially in October of this year and at the time of her passing, you will be in our hearts forever. Wake services will be held at home No. 54 South Shore, Ft. Alexander, MB beginning Saturday evening. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 17 at 12:00 noon from the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church, Ft. Alexander with Fr. Laval Cloutier officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
