Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE (LARRY) WAYNE MURRAY It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Lawrence Wayne Murray on December 13, 2002, aged 61 years, at the Grace Hospital. He will be sadly missed by Marlene, wife and best friend of 38 years; daughter Deanne (Rob) Jabs of Calgary; son Kevin (Paula) mother Evelyn; brother Gerald (Betty) and sister Sharilyn (Al) of Calgary along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. His infant sister Marilyn and father James predeceased him. Lawrence was born on April 15, 1941, raised in Winnipeg and attended St. Pauls High School and Red River College. He took an interest in electronics and eventually owned and operated The Video Refit Shop on Portage Avenue along with his wife, Marlene. He was well respected by the many associates and friends in the industry, a member of the Commerce Club Inc. of Winnipeg since 1995 and President of the Commerce Club in 2001. Lawrence had a life long passion for sports. Throughout the years, he was an active sports enthusiast having enjoyed football and basketball in his early years. He then was a long time member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club where he enjoyed squash, tennis and golf. Lawrence earned great respect in the sports community as a fierce, but courteous competitor and an impartial squash referee. He was musically talented, playing several instruments including guitar and keyboards. Many family get-togethers involved Lawrence playing countless songs by ear on the organ, and us trying to sing along. Not only did Lawrence excel in many areas, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge through teaching. He was an instructor at Red River College and a mentor for his employees. He cherished time with his children, teaching them his many skills and talents so they all could enjoy family activities together. Lawrence, with his wife, family and friends, enjoyed many summers at Matlock where he could spend his time sailing Lake Winnipeg, playing sports or just relaxing in the shade. Lawrence always showed great compassion and a great sense of humour. He was so proud of his children, took pride in their visits and in all their accomplishments. His enthusiasm for all his passions was surpassed only by his love for people. He was a man of faith, involved in St. Paul the Apostle Church, and gave to all the sense of encouragement and hope that he placed in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Words cannot express the sense of deep sorrow we feel, but we know he will rest in peace in the arms of your Loving Heavenly Father. Our days will be empty without you, but you will be forever in our hearts, minds and memories. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Ave. on Thursday, December 19 at 10:30 a.m. with Msgr. D. Ward Jamieson officiating. Viewing will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Interment at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that a donation be made in Lawrences memory to the Heart and Stoke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. Arrangements entrusted to: CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
